Frutex alte scandcns, cortice cincreo longitudinaliter rimoso; partes novella fusro-
tomentossc- Folia basi fere truncata, obtusa vel plcrumque abrupte acumiuata, oo-
riacea, utrinque inter nervos (in sicco) elegauter striatula, subtus pallida, basi 3-5-
nervia, 4-6 poll, louga, 2£-4 lata, petiolo 3-4-pollicari glabro striatulo. liacemi in
axillis super tubcrculum faseiculati, aut secus rarouluw abbrcviatum foliosum vel
aphyllain alterni, 4-8 poll, longi. Flora uiinuti, subremoti, fasrieulati vel solitarii,
bractea, subulata suffulti. Pedicelil abbreviati. Sepala extus puberula. Petala
apice emarginata.

MAS. Sepala 6; interiora nitijora, rotundata. Petala 6S parvn, ro-
tundata, varie lobata. Stamina 9, inonadelplia ; fdameuta apice libera ;
antkera adnatse, bilocalares, locolis lateral!bus sutura continua trans-
verse debiscentibus. — Frutex forsan scandens, petiolis brembw fmi
pseudo-articulaiis wperne incrassatis, foliis coriaceis, iloribus In mills
fasciculatis.
The female flower of this plant being unknown, its claim to a, place among Meni-
spermacea is still doubtful. The structure of the petiole ilitTcrs somewhat from that
of the typical Menispermacete, and approaches to that of CWjVm//, and of many
species of Grolon among EitpftortiunciW, and the inflorcscenuc lias no parallel in. the
Order. The wood is identical in structure with that of Tiliacora. In the mean-
time, as It has been referred hither by Wallich and fliers, wo place it provisionally
at the end of the Order.

posita, Iij[)a^yna, lineis coloratis pellucido-punctata, decidua vel mar-
cescenti-persistentia, ^estivatione imbricata. Stamina petala nuraero
